About Lisa

Hello, I am Lisa Allred, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over 28 years of experience as a counselor, advocate, teacher, and non-profit leader. My journey began in the late 1980s when I earned my BA in Psychology from Wake Forest University, followed by a Master of Social Work from UNC-CH.

Over the years, I have worn many hats, from serving as the Clinical Director of SAFE, a child sexual abuse clinic at Wake Forest School of Medicine, to helping people who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, parenting, life transitions, ADHD, and trauma. I have also held leadership positions in non-profits, such as Triangle Family Services and InterAct.

My commitment to education has led me to teach. I have supervised dozens of clinical interns, lectured at NCSU School of Social Work, and was a visiting clinical instructor at UNC-CH School of Social Work. I am enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and helping to train the next generation of social workers.

Social Work is a discipline that prioritizes social justice. I actively advocate for causes I believe in, for example, serving as the Founder and Chair of the Association for the Reform of NC Marital Rape Laws and volunteering for the Ethics Committee of the NC Chapter of the National Association of Social Work.

I also believe in the transformative power of the arts, utilizing dance as a means of personal creative expression. Whether organizing events like the Reunion International Dance Conference or performing as a fire dancer with Caroleena’s Circles of Joy, I embrace creativity as an essential aspect of my identity.
